Sports Day:

In order to run a Sports Day for 500 + students, we will need to bring out all the troops.  If you can help with Sports Day on May 22nd, please call the school office at 782-6212.  Talk to neighbours, grandparents, etc.—anyone you can think of that could help out for the day.   Dismissal will be when the track and field events are finished which we anticipate will be about 4:00 pm.  Our plan is to have the bus running after the events are finished so there will be no connection with the County buses.  We look forward to a great day.  Also, please remember that we need Sports Day hot lunch orders for     students and parents immediately so we can be adequately prepared.

College Heights Christian School

The successful candidate will be capable of using brain—compatible teaching strategies.  Training in HET (Highly Effective Teaching) or the willingness to train is essential.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work effectively as a team member.

Spring Musical Concert:
Please plan ahead for our Spring Musical Concert which will be held on Tuesday, June 10 starting at 7:00pm in the CHCS gym. Our choirs, bands, bell chime choir and signing class will all participate. Please save the date.

Grade 9 Grad:
CHCS Grade 9 graduation exercises will be held on Thursday, June 19 at 7:00 pm in the school gym.  Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate with the Grade 9 students as they pass this important milestone in their lives.

School Dress Code:

Now that the warmer weather has arrived (we hope!), we’d like to give a reminder regarding school summer dress code. Please note that the CHCS Handbook states that shorts and skirts should be no more than several inches above the knee. We interpret “several” to mean about
three inches. All tops should have sleeves (no spaghetti straps or sleeveless attire, please). There is an exception made for Sports Day or Beach Day when full shoulder sleeveless tops may be worn. We ask for consistency of dress code in all grades—the above standards are for ECS—grade 2 as well as other grades. Thanks for your help in maintaining consistency in dress code.

Beyond Borders:
Did you know that 18 of our Junior High students are being featured in the Dia Deo Art Gallery located in the Blackfalds Public Library? We have some very talented artists in our school and it is thanks to the initiative of Stacey Hunter that this talent is being showcased. Please show your support and come by the library in the next few weeks to see the exciting work of our very own students.

West Edmonton Mall:
We have Choice Passes to the West Edmonton Mall available to purchase. The tickets cost $17.00 and are good until October, 2008 and are open to everyone to buy on a first -come, first-serve basis.

Miscellaneous:
There is a house for rent beginning in July 2008 for one—two years here in Lacombe. The rental price is $1,200 / month + utilities and includes: 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a double garage, a large living room, furniture, a washer, dryer and appliances. If you or anyone you know is interested in renting this house, please contact the Chung family at 782-1523.

The Rosedale Valley Strings:
The Rosedale Valley Strings, directed by Naomi Delafield, will present a concert of string music this Thursday evening, May 15, at 7:00 pm at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Lacombe. Admission is free. This concert is a practice run before they record their first CD this month as a Better World fundraiser.
